Harassment
A small number of students find that harassment or bullying put a damper on their student experience. Harassment includes any behaviour by one person intended to belittle or undermine the dignity of another person. NMIT and SANITI take harassment very seriously.
Sexual harassment is harassment of a sexual nature. It is both unacceptable AND unlawful. It can arise from sexually oriented jokes or innuendo, the public display of offensive materials, unnecessary physical contact, offensive gestures, ogling and leering, inappropriate enquiries into the private life of another person, persistent and inappropriate inviting out of another person, requesting or demanding sexual favours, and physical sexual assault.
NMIT's harassment policy is currently under development however they do have a policy for preventing harassment:
