About SANITI
In March 2002, students at Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology (NMIT) voted in a referendum for a compulsory Student Association.
The Association was officially registered in August 2002 as an Incorporated Society under the name: Student Association of the Nelson-Marlborough Institute of Technology Incorporated (SANITI).
SANITI provides independent representation, advocacy and other services to students. There is also the opportunity for all NMIT students to play an active part in running the Association by becoming a Class Representative, Executive Member or President. Your appointed SANITI President for 2008 - 2009 is Clare Caron .
SANITI is the independent students’ voice on NMIT Council and Academic Board and deals with any complaints or issues students have with their courses.
Quite literally we are you! Run for and by students, we are the voice of students’ needs on all NMIT campuses around New Zealand. Representing students locally and nationally is what your Student Association is about, as well as delivering quality services and support!
Where an educational institution has held a referendum approving a compulsory Student Association, the Institute is required under the Education Amendment Act (2000), to collect a fee and pass it on to the Student Association; in this case SANITI.
Any student can submit an article for consideration for the Voice of SANITI. VOS is published 4 times a year and is free to students. Contact us for more info.
